The Wedding of Katie & Chad

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!

My husband, Chad and I were married on July 28th at Rolling Meadows Ranch in Lebanon, OH. We had dreamed of an outdoor ceremony and when we stumbled upon Rolling Meadows, we knew it was the perfect blend of rustic meets elegant. Our wedding was a perfect reflection of us as a couple. We love the outdoors, traveling, hiking, and beyond. Our ceremony was situated in a cozy, wooded grove on the property surrounded by 175 of our closest friends and families, including our very own flower dog, our Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix named Callie. Our officiant was Ken Kirk, who serves as our pastor at our church, Aley United Methodist in Beavercreek, Ohio. One of the most important things about our ceremony was that we wrote and exchanged our own vows. That was an aspect of our ceremony we knew we wanted from the beginning and it was such a meaningful and intimate part of our ceremony for my husband and me. Our reception was held in the barn located on the property, just a few hundred feet from our ceremony location. What we loved about this barn was that it had that hint of elegance we were looking for while still giving a warm, natural feel of exposed beams, a stone fireplace, and a gorgeous porch for our guests to enjoy. We incorporated a National Park theme for our reception because it reflected our love of travel and payed homage to our engagement at Rocky Mountain National Park. Each table was designed around a specific national park. Guests found their seats through our map seating chart and table postcards. We brought in our love of nature with flowers throughout. A close family friend did our arrangements and incorporated our love for color, softness, and a true to nature look. Our main food was provided by Christopher’s Catering in Kettering, Ohio. They handled our cocktail hour as well as our buffet-style dinner. We also served Rita’s Italian Ice during cocktail hour, which was a huge hit for guests who had just sat through an outdoor ceremony in July. Rita’s is a favorite of ours so it was an easy choice to include in our big day. Christopher’s Catering helped arrange the serving of Warped Wing Brewery Beer (located in Dayton, OH). This was another special touch for Chad and me because we actually met for the first time at Warped Wing. We loved bringing this local and personal touch into our wedding. As a cupcake lover and an avid baker, we served cupcakes, baked by the bride, taste-tested by the groom. This was one of my favorite touches about the wedding because I felt like it was a great way to put my own personal touch and style on desserts. Finally, we cannot thank Shana and Erin enough from Goodness + Grace Photography. These two “photo ninjas” did an amazing job capturing the moments from the day. Every bride will agree that a wedding day flies by and now I fully understand that statement. Chad and I were so blessed to have the creative talents and Shana and Erin to capture all of those moments, so we can look back on them for years to come. These two talented ladies have an impeccable eye for great shots and are organized, yet organic in their shooting. As Chad and I look back on our wedding, we could not have envisioned a more perfect wedding day. Every detail from big to small fell into place and we owe so much of that to our wonderful vendors, their staff, friends, and family who helped pull off our perfect day.
I visited Bridal and Formal after trying on…dare I say…at least 50+ dresses. I was having a terrible time deciding and nothing seemed to scream at me. I met with Katelyn and she immediately began working to figure out my style. I wanted classical, elegant, a touch of rustic, but it also needed something unique…kind of a hard bill to fit! We got really close with a few dresses that I picked off the racks and finally she asked if she could bring out a dress for me that she thought would flatter my body type and match my style. I figured I’d give it a shot and I was so glad I did. Katelyn found a gorgeous strapless dress that flattered me from the moment I put it on. She hit a home run with the lace I was looking for, but even more so the lace detailing was unlike any other lace dress I had tried on. The dress had a gorgeous light gold undertone which complimented my skin tone, unlike any other dress I had tried on at that point. Katelyn did a great job matching my style and personality to my dress. She was mindful of my budget, vision, and body type, all while helping me find a perfect dress. A huge thanks to Bridal and Formal!
