A Perfect Sunny and Mild July Wedding
We took a HUGE chance by scheduling an outdoor wedding during July in Cincinnati. Despite some stormy weather during the rehearsal dinner, Saturday morning rolled around, perfectly sunny and not too hot. The wedding party had all spent the night at the venue, sitting on the screened-in porch and getting excited about the day ahead. Charlie and I had decided to do a first look before the ceremony, which we did out in the front of the main house at the Inn, with my bridesmaids looking on from inside. I had been teasing Charlie for months that I didn’t think he would cry on the big day, but he surprised me by tearing up upon seeing me at that moment.
Soon it was time for the ceremony, during which we read personalized vows to each other in front of our 200+ family and friends. We had not seen or heard each other’s promises before that moment, but both managed to start the same way – referencing the first time we met each other s7 years prior on our college campus.
During the reception, our guests enjoyed our specialty bourbon cocktail, “The Duggan Derby,” while taking in the view of the sunset over the Ohio River and later, being able to dance under the stars. Charlie’s fraternity brothers surprised me during the reception by serenading me with some of their fraternity songs, which was so sweet. We capped off the night by enjoying some Skyline Chili style Coney’s (our local favorite!) and then Charlie, and I headed off to our Honeymoon Cottage at the Inn.
My consultant listened to me and found me the perfect dress before I even knew it! I had tried on maybe 5 or 6 dresses before that and then she surprised me with one that I had not seen on the racks. As soon as I put it on, my sister started crying, and I knew it was the one.
I was a little nervous to try on dresses because I was worried it would be overwhelming and I would not know which dress was “The One.” However, upon arriving at Bridal and Formal, the staff instantly made me feel at ease and listened to my wants and needs. I tried on a handful of dresses, not certain on any of them when my B&F rep brought back a dress I hadn’t even seen on the racks. I tried it on and instantly knew, “This Is It!” She had been so in tune with what I wanted that she knew even before I knew and as a result, I found my perfect dress at Bridal and Formal.
