I got to marry the love of my life!
We got engaged on February 1, 2017, and of course one of the first things a new bride can’t wait to do is to find her perfect dress! Without having any idea of what kind of style I was looking for, I bought a picture of a dress I found on google with a sweetheart top that I thought was pretty. Kelsey was my consultant and I showed her, my bridesmaids, and my mom and future mother-in-law the picture. Everyone went to town picking out dresses similar to the picture and a variety of ones they thought would fit my body type. I was convinced I wouldn’t have the moment of crying over picking out our dress, and I warned everyone that I would need help being certain. With our first set of selections picked, we made our way to the dressing room. Kelsey made me feel so comfortable, she was attentive, and she was so knowledgeable on what would look good and what wouldn’t. I absolutely LOVED the second dress I tried on, and I got a bit of a reaction from my entourage when I walked out. Not convinced, we continued on, dress after dress. After about 10 more dresses, Kelsey suggested we secretly go back to the second dress and show it off again—this time, with a veil. I walked out, and there it was. Everyone was in awe and tears started flowing, including me. I danced around and twirled in the dress around crying saying, “This is the dress I’m going to get a husband in.” After we left, I looked back at the picture of the dress I had shown as an example, and without even knowing, the dress I had chosen was made by the exact same designer-Maggie Sottero! Kelsey was THAT good!
We ended up going back to Bridal and Formal to select our bridesmaid dresses. I had a vision in my head of similar pinks with various styles of chiffon and sequins, which matched perfectly with our wedding style. Molly was our assistant this round! I had 8 bridesmaids and wanted a beautiful mix of variety. I wanted everyone to compliment each other and didn’t want anyone to match all while having balance and for each bridesmaid to feel beautiful and to feel comfortable in her own skin and her dress. Molly was up for the challenge. I knew I wanted Bill Levkoff as the designer with the huge variety of style choices. We ended up using three different colors-petal, sequins pink, and shell pink. My vision and wishes came to life thanks to Molly’s help! The color scheme was absolutely gorgeous, each girl felt beautiful and loved her dress, and the styles were everything I had hoped for!
On May 19, 2018, I married the love of my life, Kendall, and it was more than what we could have dreamt! I spent 15 months pouring my heart and soul into planning the wedding of our dreams. Kendall and I are both very sentimental people, and I wanted our love for the small things and our personalities to be spread throughout. Our wedding was truly one of a kind because nearly everything was made by me! The place cards, wine cork place card holders, signs, signature drinks, favor boxes, paper goods, card cage, wedding wands—if I could do it, it was going to be done. We had an intimate ceremony mass at St Rose Church and a gorgeous reception at The Center. There were a ton of surprises throughout our wedding, too! I became an official “second mom” to my six-year-old maid of honor, Kensley, that I’ve known since she was 15 months old. To make a special moment for the two of us, she and I danced to Taylor Swift’s The Best Day while a slideshow of vows I made to Kensley played in the background. Kensley also made a surprise speech for us, and there wasn’t a dry eye around! I also did a surprise speech to my husband’s coworkers, as they are all firemen, and gave each one a St Florian medal that I secretly had blessed during our wedding ceremony by our priest as a thank you for protecting Kendall. We are also major dog people, so our Best Dog and Pup of Honor met the entire bridal party for pictures at Ault Park, where we had one of our very first dates. We even had an unplanned surprise of running into Andy Dalton at the gas station while on a beer run! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might have had the British version of the Royal Wedding on May 19th, but we had the Cincinnati version, and it was a dream come true!
